Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

Boating, fishing, and sailing at your own risk

The ocean is unpredictable. Weather, sea conditions, and navigational hazards can change without warning. Bait Beacon is an informational tool only — it does not replace professional maritime guidance, local knowledge, or your own good judgment.

1. Who we are

Bait Beacon is operated by Camp Originals ("Camp Originals", "we", "us"). By creating an account or continuing to use the service, you agree to these terms and enter into a contract with Camp Originals. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization; otherwise you confirm you are of legal age to form a binding contract.

2. The service

Bait Beacon provides fishing and marine-conditions information, a personal catch log, and (for Beacon Pro subscribers) alerts and related features. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service within your plan. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation; the service is provided "as is" and "as available".

3. Acceptable use

You must not misuse the service. That includes, without limitation:

  • Using the service for any unlawful purpose, fraud, or spam.
  • Infringing intellectual-property rights of Camp Originals or third parties.
  • Interfering with the security or operation of the service, including introducing malware, probing or scanning for vulnerabilities, or scraping the service at scale.
  • Reverse engineering the service, reselling or redistributing it, or circumventing technical or plan limits.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account, and for providing accurate information and keeping it up to date.

4. Intellectual property

Camp Originals retains all ownership of the service and its intellectual property, including software, documentation, and branding. Content you enter (catch logs, notes, spots) remains yours; you grant us a limited license to host and process it solely to provide the service to you.

5. Payments and subscriptions

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Beacon Pro subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period.

6. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, fail to pay amounts due, pose a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly or seriously violate our policies. When access ends, you may request an export or deletion of your data via the contact form.

7. Safety disclaimer — no guarantee of safety or success

We provide approximations based on free public datasets (sea-surface temperature, bathymetry, seasonal patterns, moon phase, and tide). These are starting points for research, not guarantees of fish location, weather stability, or safe boating conditions. Conditions on the water can deteriorate rapidly. Always verify forecasts with official sources before departing.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. By using this site, you agree that Camp Originals and its operators are not liable for any injury, loss, damage, or death resulting from your use of the information provided, nor for indirect, consequential, or special damages (including loss of profits, data, or goodwill). You assume full responsibility for all decisions made while boating, fishing, sailing, or engaging in any maritime activity. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where the law does not allow it.

9. Know the regulations

Season dates, size limits, bag limits, and gear rules vary by state and change regularly. It is your responsibility to check current local, state, and federal regulations before targeting any species. "Closed to harvest" or seasonal labels shown here are approximations and may not reflect the latest rule changes.

10. Fish ethically

Follow best practices for catch-and-release when appropriate, respect protected species, and leave the ocean better than you found it.

11. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Camp Originals is established, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
